  • Caldecott Medal - is awarded by the American Library Association for the best children's picture book of the year.

  • Man Booker Prize for Fiction - is awarded every two years to a living author who has published a work of fiction in the English language

  • National Book Award - One of the nation's most prestigious literary prizes, given by the National Book Foundation

  • National Book Critics Circle Award - recognizes books in five categories: fiction, general nonfiction, biography/autobiography, poetry and criticism.

  • Newbery Medal - honors the author making the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

  • Nobel Prize in Literature  - awarded to an author who has produced "in the field of literature the most outstanding work in an ideal direction."

  • PEN/Faulkner Award - recognizes an outstanding fiction book selected by judges who are themselves fiction writers.
